Spending big, guilt?

Hey guys,
I'm really looking to buy a nice bass, and being left handed, there is low-range and high-range and not much in between...that being said, I have about 45% of the money in gift cards I need for the couple basses I'm looking at and the rest would come from my bank account, with the money I make from my job. However, two things are stopping me...Do I, as a decent hobbyist player but no band prospects or music major deserve a nice bass? Plus I'm going to move out in the next year and should I be looking towards the future and not messing around with hobbies?

Re-reading it looks confusing...by a couple basses I meant options, lol...just looking to buy one

It's up to you and it's your money. But for me if I am not active in a band or perusing one, I do not need or want expensive equipment to just noodle around the house.
Today you can get good decent basses and a practice amp fairly in expensively. Years ago I had about $1500.00 in a bass and amp. I was a good ways about being serious about a band. I down sized, got better, and when band came I went and got the rig I needed. The Gig pay justified the purchase to me.
