I did understand, one board foot of Purpleheart will be 4 feet by 3 inches by 7/8 thick. you take off the extra inch off unless you want a 20 degree angle on the peghead or something like that and take off whatever you need to take off to get to a quarterinch. For a bolt on neck you will need something like one board foot for both outer parts of the neck in maple... If you dont have a decent lumberyard in your area, you have no other choice but to order at least one board foot or drive somewhere far. I think Todd has Neck Lams all ready to glue up on his website, but they are pricey. Ive got a Neck here with Maple, Purple, and Ipe, 7 pieces, cost me 19$, another 7 piece with Maple and Gombeira, cost me 11$. calculate your stuff dude, one board foot is fairly small, depending on the thickness you want. You might be better off asking one of us to get you some pieces at our local lumberyards and shipping them of to you. The one I deal with has 110 different kinds of wood. I got a 1/4" piece, 3" by 5' of Purpleheart for 2$ !!! enough to do two Fretboards!! do the math, that is 1$ for a fretboard !
