Split Expression pedal/tap tempo?

Here's a "does it exist"/"wouldn't that be great" post: Are there any tap tempos or expression pedals that have multiple outs to control several effects?

Easier: does y-splitting the signal from a tap tempo do anything harmful? Will it work?

Basically, I have a couple of effects that can be controlled by an external tap tempo, and I figured I might as well try to run them off the same tap. Any issues I'm not seeing?

Depends on the specific electronic design of each of the items in question. In theory, there's no reason an idealized control signal can't be split to two different devices. But the odds of a particular tap switch or exp. pedal having an output signal ideal for two other devices, maybe by different manufacturers, is slim. I can only really see it working with either a MIDI controller or an analog modular system calibrated for that purpose.

The only pedals on my board that allow for this are boss, so that takes out one variable I think. (they should be consistent, no?).

We can hope! How about an experiment: It won't kill you to have an extra controller pedal around, so get one that is known to work with any one of those Boss pedals you have. Read the manual to determine what kind of cable is needed to connect it. Then make or buy a Y-cable with the correct plugs, and try it out!

It may not work, in which case you and I are just stumped. But it may work partially, in which case we can try to diagnose what needs to be corrected in the way the signal is split. And no, it can't harm any of the components.
