Split [P] dual coil pickups?

I like single coils. I like dual coils more.

I like split coils. Stands to reason I might like split dual coils, like a doubled Precision pickup, even more.

Surely I'm not the first person to wonder about this, but I've never heard of it, and my searches just return a lot of filler results about split coils, dual coils, and coil splitting. Hoped you folks could tell me who's tried it and how it went, and if there's any production model I just haven't come across.

There is really only one main advantage as far as I'm concerned, and that is switching flexibility - i.e. you can coil split them like a conventional two coil humbucker, but you end up with a "single coil" pickup that's humbucking and/or offset.

Otherwise, there is no inherent difference, really. The things that people attribute to coil count or single vs dual vs quad in terms of tone and output are generally due to the construction and shape of the coils, not the number of coils.

I don't mean this to diminish your curiosity, a lot of quads sound really good - but they sound good because they're well designed, not because they're quads.

I'm not sure I understand. Is it something like the Di Marzio dp127 ?
If so it is a pretty common arrangement but most of the time with blades you don't see.
