Split P vs Single Coil P

I am considering a build from Warmoth parts. I really like the look of that ‘51 slab body in butterscotch with the black pickguard. But it’s made for the original single coil P pup. I don’t think I have ever heard one. Any suggestions on what to expect? I have another bass with the Geezers in, really like the tone.

I prefer the single coil sound play with hard picking on my previous Squier CV 50P ~ Crunchy

Sting used other basses in far more famous recordings than the single coil.
