Double Bass Splitting/Mixing

Hi all,

I'm quite interested in the idea of using effects processing on the bass, but don't want to sacrifice my acoustic tone. I was wondering if it's possible to split the signal from my pickup, so I could process one half with effects and have the other half clean. Ideally, I'd like to blend these signals into a single input on my amp if possible (so that there is still some aspects of my clean tone to support the effected one), but I suppose it could suit my purposes to be able to switch between an effected and clean signal.

Is there some sort of gadgetry for doing this?

Does your amp have an effects loop? It could be used to do what you are looking for.

^^^ Only if the loop is blendable, many of which are not.

An easy solution is a Boss LS-2 Line Selector. It's multi-function, one of which is to blend loop A and B in parallel. If you run effects through one loop, then leave the other empty it becomes a dry blend.

I use effects all the time with my uprights using the Lehle Parallel L: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and I always have a clean signal with my effects.

Also keep in mind that some higher end effect pedals have a 'blend' option to dial in how much effected sound you want added to the original signal.

Thanks for the replies.

I have a Markbass LMK-II, which has the effects loop wired in parallel, so I should be golden to use that to blend my processed and clean signals, so long as I use a volume pedal in the effects loop to control the mix I guess.

I'll give it a try, but if not I can always go the route of the LS-2 or the Parallel L.
