Square wave synthy fuzz

Maybe it's just me or maybe or it's just the clips that i have heard but to me a P+C is nothing like the sound we're talking about....
It's to round sounding and not jaggered enough for me anyway.

Having said that i am yet to play one or hear it in the flesh.

Anyway so far i think i have it down to a brown dog or a flying tomato or a neo for my fuzz.
After i find the right fuzz i will then try to find the effect to use after such as an octaver or some kind of filter...

The noise box could be a possibility but it's kinda a one trick pony...

This is really very frustrating i have yet to have such a clear sound that i am trying to recreate and have so much trouble finding it.

THe thing is, the P&C gives you the feel of a square wave thing followed by a filter, which is pretty much the jamirowhatzit sound. Heck, the guy used some cheap old boss multieffects for most of his recordings anyways.

Well i think i found my square wave synth sound finally...

This is somthing that i've anoyed toasted with and many others on TB here and i tried a truckload of pedals in the process the coolest and most brutal other pedal i nearly bought was the Ezekiel by DAM but it it didn't take active basses very well at all and since thats what i mainly play it was a bit heart breaking not to be able to walk out with one.

Anyway in a moment of desperation i ordered a Chunk systems brown dog...

Let me tell you this thing is exacltly what the doctor ordered it's hard it's a bit brutal and it cuts like a muthaf*ka...

I've got a 00funk to try as well but i havn't gone to get it yet so i'll let you know..

It's been a big week of effects and the board has taken a couple of big changes and hopefully will finish up soon once some other things turn up and get back from the mod doctor .

Either that or the other half is about to put her foot down in a big way.
Between pedals and studio expenses she's about to go off.....

BMS is good for synth fuzz stuff. I may be letting mine go soon. I got it relatively cheap so i'll pass that on to you. I'll send you a PM if I decide to

I can get some really synth sounds through my SYB-5. Nice and low and clean sounds (minus the fuzz of the EHX BMS - although I have one of those in my loop too). I like to put a BOSS OC-1 in front of it, so I get an octave pedal pulling the signal down before it goes into the synth. Additionally, to counter the tracking issues that the syb-5 is notorious for, I have a split channel pre amp (Ampeg SVP-BSP) which allows me to always have a clean channel in the blend. It's nice, so you never lose your tracking issues. Additionally I've got a Digitec Synth-Auto Wah. That pedal is great bang for buck. It gets a lot of play. Here's my FX-Loop in a nutshell

EHX-BMS -> Q-tron (push position) -> Q-tron (suck position) -> Digitech Synth Auto Wah -> Boss OC-1 Octave -> Boss SYB-5 Synth with an expression pedal.

If I turn all that on at once (which is crazy) I can play it all with just my expression pedal. Madness. Usually I turn on sections at a time. OC-1 with the SYB-5 OR Digitech Synth Auto Wah OR EHX BSM with the Q-Tron. Kind of have three unique synthy sounding flavors.

Just as a side note, when I play "The National Anthem" from Kid A, I use the Guyatone TZ-2 for the fuzz.

It's far from a perfect fuzz as it has definite bleed through, an awkward battery compartment and doesn't work well with other pedals (I like using a fuzz to drive an envelope filter and/or phaser which it is not useful for) but it does give me the heavy, thick fuzz that I like for certain applications. It sounds especially good for powerchords.

Because of its lack of versatility, it doesn't occupy a permanent place on my board, but I definitely use it on occasion and it was pretty cheap ($70 US).

+1 to this. It's too snarly and rude for a synth thing, IMO.
