Squier 70’s mod Jazz ....

So here’s the thing. The area where I live is currently suffering a mini-crimewave, neighbors are being broken into with stuff being taken. I’ve worked too long and too hard to let these low-life pieces of crap help themselves to my basses so I decided to put them all into storage -15 miles away. Obviously, I can’t NOT have a bass here, so I went on the internet and ordered a discounted loaded Squier jazz body 5er, seperately a jazz neck and a squiggly scratchplate. The bits arrived quickly - thanks Stratosphere - and I bolted it all together. The idea was that I could have a cheap bass laying around that I wouldn’t mind getting knocked, damaged with high heat/humidity or ultimately stolen. I put a set of Labella copper tapewounds on it and fiddled with the string height. Didn’t need to adjust the neck - it was bang-on. Having played it out a couple of times I now find myself minding very much that it should get damaged or stolen. Really, this thing cost me @ $300 and it plays like a dream. Even the stock pups sound good - unbelieveable. Granted it’s a bit heavy, but I can live with that. Why did I spend $2k on my Elite jazz?? (Half-serious). Obviously it’s not as good, but this bass is pretty damn close. We’ve had temps of 95 degrees with high humidity, but this thing is solid as a rock. Astounding. Now I’m worrying about the others just sitting in a storage unit. Can’t win.
