this one has kinda been my go to lately. Outside of it being on its third paint job, it's pretty much stock.

Found the Affinty club here , been thinking of grabbing a used P affinity as there usaly for sale every where , but want to put a Jazz neck on it , seems a lot of different opiniouns on fit, so has anyone here put a jazz neck on a Affinity p body and it fit fine ?? if so, what jazz neck did you use ? I would like to be SURE so I wont be wasting money if I do this, thanks :)

Hi all... long time lurker, first time poster. :D

I recently had a 2017 Affinity P Bass PJ follow me home for a ridiculously low price, but after buying it to resell I think I may keep it. :)
It's a shockingly good instrument stock, and any changes would likely be from more want than need.
Seems like it'd be a fine mod platform, though... :D

And that beauty gets you #152!

Just got mine yesterday! Ive been looking for a P for a while, and this guy even beat out some MIMs i tried. $125.

Rescued it from a terrible wiring job, and its sounding good (rewired what was in there, but still plan on putting in new electronics soon) also a new bridge in the mail.

Any advice on replacing pickguards and tuners?

I want to do the same! I just picked up a P yesterday. I havent heard any horror stories on fit; either they drop in or fit with minor adjustment. Im sure someone had problems along the way, but seems rare. And fender necks, all parts necks, warmoth should all fit too.

Ive got a list of repairs to get done first, and im going to *try* and see if i can adjust to thr neck in the meantime.

If i do try a j neck i will surely report back!

And you get club #153!

Nice looking P bass. Looks like it has some miles on it but not abused...

FWIW, my new Affinity is a 2017 and has an Indian Laurel fingerboard instead of rosewood. Apparently, thanks to CITES Fender doesn't do rosewood anymore, opting for laurel or pau ferro. Some reading online shows some people (guitarists) who've encountered the laurel dislike it for its looks, and some gripe about the feel, but concede it sounds fine.

Personally, I quite like it. :)
It sounds to me almost like a cross between rosewood and maple, warm and snappy, and the texture feels slightly grainy but smooth. String bends are easy and the neck is dead-spot free. :) The color is like a milk chocolate with long dark streaks, almost walnut like, and compares favorably to the various rosewood colors I have on hand.
I haven't played a laurel fingerboard before, but I'd happily do so again.

Give it a try before you judge... ;)

Thanks! Glad to be here. :)

I had my sights set on a VM or MIM, but this one was really nice, as good or better. It's substantial, and sounds good unplugged.

Bridge and pickguard screws were all rusty, i had a bag of screws at home, and can get a basic bent bridge for cheap.
