Squier Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ/ Replacement Pups...

What would you guys recommend to replace the pj setup in this stock bass. I want a whole package with controls. Active or passive and soldering is not a problem. Looking for vintage growl and tone.

Hello. By looking for a complete electronics package, you are limiting yourself to very few options. If instead you used parts, your options would be numerous; and I think the only limitation could be fitment for the J pickup (depending on when your bass was made).

I'm with @thebates, looking for a package is limiting.
I can tell you the wilkinson P & J passive are voiced very similarly to the PJ set in most Fender USA models, their used to be a set with a neck sized J-pup, but you can find them individually on eBay. I replaced the J pup in my JP-90 with one, other than being slightly hotter, it sounds very like the original (if passive USA Fender is what you're looking for).

Other options to consider:

Dimarzio Area P+J set gives vintage PJ tones (J is hum cancel split coil)

Fender Original 62 P and Super 55 J would give vintage PJ tones with slightly overwound bridge J tones (J is hum cancel split coil)

Seymour Duncan vintage P and Hot Stack J would give vintage P tones with a more humbucker sounding J (J is hum cancel stack coil)

How do the Wilkinsons compare to the stock pickups in a Squier (in my case the Standard Series from circa 2005)?

I have Wilkinsons from stock in a Jazz bass and they are brighter than the average of my Jazz bass pickups, and slightly more aggressive, and less warm than, say, Wizard 64s, which are supposed to match early 60s Jazz pickups, but I have no reference for Wilkinson P pickups.

Sadly, whilst I have a pair of Jazz pickups spare I have two Squier PJs and the spare Jazz pickups are a set.

I couldn't tell you, I haven't compared them side by side with Alnico Squier pups. I did pop the P in my JP-90 just to try, and like the j pup, it was much like the standard American P pup in it (from 1991), a tad hotter, but similarly voiced (the JP has 500k pots). Of course YMMV.

I have one of these, and honestly, the only thing I did was to replace the j pickup with a Fender Super55, and a good cavity shielding job. It is great as is now. The super 55 is very hum-less, it retains a lot of the jazz pickup qualities even though it is a split coil (idk how Fender did it, but I love it), it is a bit hotter and so and it balances better, imo, with the stock p pickup, which on my bass was actually not bad at all, so I kept it. This bass in now one of my favorites.
