Squier Affinity - upgrades, mods?

Last year I bought this Squier Afinnity Jazz Bass, always wanted Burgundy Mist.



Now I'm thinking about upgrading the pickups.
Would Fender V-Mod pickups be good option?

And bridge: Fender American DeLuxe would be a good mod?

I’m sure those are both great options. I’ve never used the V mod pickups but I’m assuming that you chose them because you did some digging around and they fit the tone you’ve got in mind.

Related to what @superheavyfunk wrote: could you articulate why you want to do thise mods? I, too, purchased a Sqire Affinity (P-bass) a while ago, but didn't find anything in particular that I wanted to change, apart from the strings. I might replace the pickup, if and only if I find one that's disgustingly bassy and hot. Until then, no changes. Clarity.

Brief summary:
- I think tone miss something, and distorts at full volume
- Lacks definition, clarity, when crank volume up.
- I already changed the pickup on a Precision bass and I really liked the result

I searched and did not find in the forum, thread discussing these V-Mod Jazz Bass pickups (only PB).

The pickup is a great choice,the bridge will not fit without drilling new holes. I recommend a fender highmass or badgaes 2 for a direct fit. I would also swap out the pots for cts full sized ones.

I suggest Fender PV 64J, CS J, Fralin J for similar price tag.

The deluxe bridge are design for string through J bass, but slotted saddle are nice for string spacing adjustment. If you wanna install this bridge on your Affy J, you need plug the bridge mounting holes (except middle hole), then redrill new mounting screw holes. Deluxe bridge has 3 mounting holes, and others holes are for string through.

Replaced an original Precision pup on Tagima Tw66, for a DiMarzio Split P DP127.

Nice! I think we are after the same kind of tone! The Dimarzio Split P is the one I'm considering, too. Humbucking, high output, very, very bassy.
