Squier Bronco Modding Questions

Thanks a lot to everyone who posted and shared their valuable knowledge with me with all these fantastic answers. The one with the musicman Pickup and the racing Stripes looks especially marvelous. I kinda want that now.

Not meaning to be annoying, I tried a bunch of pickups in my Bronco and ended up back with the stock one. It doesn't sound much different than what I hear on many records.
I tried one and went back to the stock pickup. The hum is annoying because it's really loud compared to the volume it puts out but the dual rail pickup I bought was just too muddy.
I'd love to try a Dimarzio but I can't find a used one. Too expensive to buy new, especially if it doesn't work out.

A lace sensor is also a nice pickup, I have one set aside for when I finally get my Badtz Maru bronco...
The Badtz Maru pickup is wound a bit "hotter" than a regular Bronco pickup. I get a nice olde skoole thump on mine, strung w/GHS Short Scale Precision Flats. (it's still a 6 pole "guitar" pickup, tho) Check it out with the strings of your choice, you may decide to use the "stock" pickup.

This is what it came to in the end and I am very pleased with the Outcome.

Just asking here, I have a Bronco neck on a Musicmaster body.

I would love to replace the tuners which seem to be the weak spot I have left to fix. They tend to go flat is the reason I say that.

But I have no access to a drill press and no confidence in my ability to do the work by attacking it with a drill.

Has anyone found tuners that fit "as is" in the Bronco neck?
