I have a new Squier Classic Vibe 50's Precision. I replaced the original pickup with a Seymour Duncan Quarter pound SCPB-3. Sounds great but just started noticing that there is a static noise when I run my finger up and down the pick guard from the volume knob up both horns and touch the pickguard screws closest to the pickup? As far as I know, there are no electronics further up the bass past the pickup. Anyone have this issue?

Squier Classic Vibe 50's Precision Pickguard static

I had that problem on a Squier Tele and my guitar tech roughed up the underside of the pickguard with sandpaper which solved the static buildup.
Thanks for the response. I know I can return this to Guitar Center even though it's about 6-8 weeks old but it's a really nice bass. Well crafted, great wood grain example, tight tuners, etc and the QP pickup was a great upgrade. I tried the dryer wipe and it did work temporarily. Is there a permanent fix so I don't have to go through the headache with GC? Is it a typical and common problem?

It's environmental. Rub plastic and static will build... it's science. It has absolutely zero to do with a bass defect. I will venture that where you are right now has a low relative humidity and that you wear blended fabrics.
Buy a nitrate or bakelite pickguard. They don't build static since they aren't PVC.
