I am interested in buying a CV '60 P-Bass in Fiesta Red.
I have not tried it, but I heard samples and saw reviews in the web.
A friend of mine told me that the quality of the new ones aren't the same that the ones from the beginning (I presume 2008).
Does any of you know anything about this?
Any of you have one from 2008 and tried "new" in store had came to the same conclusion?

Yea I had NO intention of buying anything when I went into the shop but she gave me that "come hither" look with all that grain showing and when I picked her up she knew she was coming home with me....and didn't take long before I knew it too.
(ended up trading a squire 5 string P on it, liked it well enough but just had to have this one!)

Thanks! I actually used a $5 cable from RadioShack into Garageband and used the free version of Amplitube. Basically, anyone with bass and an internet connection could achieve that sound.

i have changed out the tuning pegs to the reverse geared vintage style. don't ask..... long story!
once i got done putting them on, stringing up, and tuning, i played for a long time and was pleasantly surprised by the change in sound.
i am not the sharpest tool in the shed, but the change in sound was appreciable. can anyone explain? is it the added mass at the headstock?

No, I didn't remove the headstock decal nor am I planning to do so.
I'm not trying to "fool" anybody. I'm proud of my instrument and I tell everyone about how wonderful the CV line is.
I just happen to really like the look of this new neckplate, I think it's beautiful. And I like flat knobs better than dome knobs.
That "Fender Corona California" is going to be resting against my belly and probably no-one will ever see it.. so it's purely a personal treat, nothing more.
Anyway, I hope you feel better soon.

I knew those! I actually wanted to buy them, but the problem is that shipping to my country was like $23, for a couple of $1 sleeves!! So of course I didn't.
So far the knobs are pretty well secured. I aligned the screw with the gap in the shaft and so far they are straight and firm. Anyway thanks for your comment!

Could it be that the original ones have a "waist" that centres the string midpost, and the reverse style tuners
lets the string go down towards the front of the headstock giving you a better string angle over the saddle?
That's my theory!
