I didn't mean to imply that my original CV machines detune by themselves. I sometimes have a tendency to *lightly* bump a key with my hand/fingers when I am dialing in, hence the inadvertent detune. I call it "fat fingering", like striking two or more adjacent keys on a keyboard or keypad whilst texting. When I got the bass, I made sure that all screws were tight. If there is an issue down the road, I will upgrade. I don't mod for its own sake, other than what I've done already for aesthetics or personalization.

Ok, but my Hipshots on my VMJ go outta whack when I bump them too. Hmmm. I only swapped them for looks (black) but I will say the quality of the CV tuners far surpasses the VM (2009) tuners in ratio and finish. Anyway no biggie mate.
My Squiers the day I got them (ordered them both from the TB classifieds and they came on the same day). The top one is a VM Jazz 5 with Series/Parallel switch.
The bottom is my 60's CV P. This one came with MIM pickup and I am pretty sure the pots and maybe input jack are not stock. This one has become my baby. Set up like a dream in no time once I took it out of the box. So low action. LOVE the neck. Light as a feather. Awesome paint. And the sound crushes.
I removed the "thumb" rest almost immediately. I found it gets in the way with slapping/popping. Since I never slap nor pop in any music I play live, I have thought about putting it back on for cosmetic reasons (screw holes kind of irk me).
As much as I love my Fender P/J, I don't take it out as often because of this bass. For some reason the Fender is much "deader" sounding than the Squier (if that makes sense) even with the foam mutes under the bridge cover (which isn't a bad thing by any means, just different.)
All 3 of the basses mentioned in this post are strung with GHS Pressurewounds.

Here's my new CV Precision. Picked it up last night at GC for $225 and got a white pickguard to go with it. I've never really been a fan of the tort guards. Loving the bass already btw. I have a gig tomorrow night and I think I'm going to take it instead of my MIM Jazz V that I always run.
I like the vintage modified p bass,I have the amber with a tort pic guard,thats the only part I changed out...

I think I may have to go with the chromes. I want to get something in-store. I have some labella tapes on my jazz, but I can't justify spending that much on strings on a new bass. I like the tone of the rounds, but I wanna give flats a try since that's all I ever hear about when it comes to p-basses.

I'd only had the 50's P a few months, it had two week old GHS Precision Flats on it and a 1/4 pounder pup. They also got my VM fretless Jazz that had new TI flats I'd put on just a few days before and an Acoustic B200 combo along with a small Fender practice amp. Of course the 32" flat screen, a lap top, digital cameras, jewelry, etc.
Really hard to describe the feeling when you come home and find your home has been busted into and most of the things you put out hard earned money for have been carried off by some vile piece of scum. Life goes on though and a security system with cameras has been installed that notifies us and the police right away.
^ hey, I remember your bass but I think you're mistaken, it was actually a ca.1955 Fender Precision. Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket.

I love CV jazz 60 until I got an opportunity playing Alleva coppolo LG4,...and realize my CV "G" string is off but not out of tune kind of off.
it just sounds dull and only with G sting.
Does it need re-setup?

I would chek string/pickup height just to make sure it's optimum. I also used to get that with my P50's until I lowered the E-side of the pickup (was getting an overly loud 4th string) and now it's more even all across the 4 strings. If that doesn't help... a pick up swap(?)
