The gloss finish on the CV that I tried today was just too sticky for me. I had the sales clerk clean it for me and it was still a drawback. Sound-wise, it rocks, but so did the VM IMO. The VM was just a tad thinner sounding, but not by much. Tough call, and I'm sure I'd be happy either way, but it's the VM neck FTW.

I vote for the CV...and i have both. the VM is nice, but its too bulky for my taste. now it just sits in pieces as a potential project. My CV however, gets alot of play nowadays. i have it modded with Fender vintage noiseless pickups, BAII bridge and Audere preamp. it just feels alot better in my hands. its alot smoother, and doesnt have that "cheap" bass feel or sound like the VM.

Love both of mine to death :bassist: I have gigged both (CV and VM series) but love these classic vibe basses and don't mind the glossy neck. Honestly, for me the bridge upgrade and attention to detail make the CV basses more "worth it" to me, but thats IMO..

the bridge on the VM is a little lacking. the saddles are made out of some cheaper metal, aluminum or something? die cast? i don't know, but i switched out the saddles for some brass ones that i got for like 15 or something and it made a huge difference in the sound. the bass sounds more clear now and all that good stuff. so if you do go with the vm, i'd suggest getting new saddles at least.

a lot of people would say that changing the bridge/saddles don't make htat much of a difference, but IMO, it woudln't if the saddles were already brass, or nickle or somehting, but since the saddles on the VM bridge are made out of whatever they are, the difference is amazing.

I'm definitely diggin' that new classic vibe P-Bass too. Played it at GC through my Aguilar GS212. It looked, played and sounded top notch. I kinda felt like Pino Palladino... : ) I hope they come out with a Classic Vibe 70s jazz bass. it would definitely give the VM a run for its money. They would probably discontinue it.
