Squier Classic Vibe or Vintage Modified?

CGS (“Crafted in China”) – The first 2 numbers following the prefix is the year. 7 or 8- digit number.
Example: CGS10xxxxxx = 2010
That's all I can find... Possible Chinese CV 2011.

The serial number on my Chinese CV 60's Jazz is CGRJ08xxxxxx and the Matt Freeman signature Precision is also a CGS10xxxxxxx and they don't work with the Fender serial tool either. I don't think there's anything malicious going on.
Okay thanks guys! Last time i almost pulled the trigger, it was on a VM P/J Lake Placid Blue, and the number showed in the detector. Same thing for Warwicks, i've owned four different models trying to find my sound on those & the numbers always matched.. i got a little bit worried here, but if U guys confirm..

This looks like InstantEctobass’ bass. He’s in France near Paris I think. If it is I am surprised he’s selling it.
From his profil picture it could totally be him, but his profile says he lives in Bordeaux, my seller is in Dreux. But as i said: this person might be the third or fourth owner for all i know... The bass was made in 2011...
The (original) Classic vibe basses are all marked up as 'Crafted in China', the necks are finished in a high gloss 'vintage' lacquer and they are fitted with a distinct looking high mass bridge with brass saddles.
It looks very similar to his but not quite the same.

Yeah it does... Unfortunately: i have no job for the summer, i had two private class students that i was seeing every day, but one is leaving the country & the other one had a major personal problem... Very impressed with my new acquisition, a Squier VM Precision (amber). A welcome addition to my Fender FSR Deluxe Jazz and Squier VM fretless Jazz.
I'm gonna change the electronics and pick guard (tort of course), but may leave the p/up (looks like it's been changed but I can't identify it). It's wrapped with D'Addario Chromes, which I wasn't expecting, but will leave on because it sounds so damn good!

I've got one of these myself. Put GHS flats on it and just found the sound I am looking for 40+ years...

I was definitely surprised at the quality of sound, I wasn't sure of the maple body but I think it works better compared to the agathis on the other VMs. Don't get me wrong, the VM fretless Jazz is very nice (when I installed SD Quarter Pounders it really put a shine on). In regards to strings, I would have probably used my standard D'Addario Half Wounds but the Chrome flats really work well with this baby.
The Squier CV and Signature series are both great values. Extremely consistent, too.
I haven't had a signature model bass yet, but I have a Fiesta Red Simon Neil Squier Strat that plays incredibly. I had one or two of the other signature guitar models over the years, and they always played and sounded great for the money.
If I was in the market for a Jazz, I'd find one of the James Johnston Jazz Basses. Beautiful Lake Placid Blue with a matching headstock. Always sounded good, too. I think there's a seller on the classifieds with one.

Zombie thread! For what it's worth now I've had my VM 70s since 2018,it's a 2007 model,the only issues I've had was my bridge volume pot went kaput. Other than that out of the 12 basses I own,including my Mim and American Fenders ,my 70s is my favorite,the tone from the D.D. pups is awesome,nice and deep ,growls sound.....to me when I think of how a jazz should sound..I think of my Vm 70s..a deep midrange honky growl..modern jazzed sound too thin for my preference
