This is my new baby, Chinese era Squier CV 70s body with an AO aftermarket neck.
It has a light body and nice balance, especially since I installed res-o-lite reverse tuners. It also features a Fender Vintage-Style with threaded bridge and a Fralin P pickup. And a brand new set of Thomastik flats, of course!
I really love this parts bass. The body doesn't have nitro finish (no problem at all with that, it's more of a personal preference), but the rest of the parts, hardware, clay dots, etc. are period correct. It cost me less than $1000, and I'm extremely happy with it. I've also owned the Vintera P, and I must say there's quite a difference.
I'm posting this to share the information in case someone is considering a similar project. I think it's definitely worth it. These AO necks are simply amazing.
My local luthier widened the neck cavity by about 1/16 inches, and he did an excellent job. Now the strings align perfectly with the pickup poles. I also love the Fralin pickup, although the stock one from the CV was okay.
I wasn't convinced until the end, but now I have no regrets, and I know I never will. This bass is a keeper, and it's a bargain too!
