My first bass is this Squire series... 1991 ish, I think... bought it in '92. At some point I had painted it blue and silver, don't remember why. I recently tried to strip off all the paint, but only the rattle can paint came off and the original cream didn't budge.. except around the edges. Anyways, I gave it a quick sanding, and liked the aged way it looked, so I put a clear coat on it and left it that way. The controls haven't worked in the last 15 years or so, so I bought this loaded plate of ebay for 10 bucks. Figured if it didn't work either, I was only out the 10. Soldered it in, and blammo.. I have a working Jazz bass. Jazzed it up a little with the ash tray (pardon the pun).

Does anyone have the new VM 70's basses in either red or white. The only pics I have seen are stock shots!

I just picked one up from my local L&M with some Christmas money. My first foray into passive single coils, and I am digging the tone options on this bass. Terrific instrument for a musician on a budget. There's a few imperfections, but overall I am very satisfied with this Squier Jazz.

Strings sit a little off center towards the bass side of the neck

Bit of a sloppy cut on the nut for the E string slot

How much does L and M list them for and how long did it take for you to get it? I am amazed that these and many others are not listed on the web site but are available. Like I want one of these and I am also gasing for a Cabronita P Bass.

It was $300 at L&M, and they just had it on hand. I pestered their sales guy and he dug it out of the back. If you don't see it on the shelves, ask a sales rep to look at their inventory, they're usually pretty helpful.

I wonder why that one along with the P 5, Cabronita, and the Fretless P are not showing up on their website, but are in stores!!

Some of the guys in my local Lethbridge store are good, but a lot of them could not be bothered looking up bass gear. Heck I wanted a Modern Player Jazz Satin ordered, he said he did, never did arrive, and that was around 3 months a go, last week I asked one of the guys to check on the status of the order and it was never even made :rollno::scowl:
