i got one of these beautiful things about two weeks ago. i read somewhere that there's 1200 in Europe (350 in the uk). don't hold me to that to because i have no idea how accurate those figures are.
It's possible. I understand it's supposed to be a special run exclusive to Musician's Friend, isn't it? (here in the States, at least)
Two new-to-me Squiers arrived on my doorstep on Friday 
Both Precision Special 5 strings, the Shoreline Gold one marked that way, the Sunburst bass (with an earlier serial number) marked only Squier Special 5.
Note another difference between them...the Shoreline bass has a side mounted output jack while the Sunburst bass has the output jack mounted on the pickguard. And the finish on the back of the neck is flat on the Sunburst bass while it's satin on the Shoreline Gold bass.
Both have wide necks (2 in. at the nut) and feel/play/sound great!
I'll probably leave the Shoreline Gold instrument alone but have plans for the Sunburst bass...5-string P-Bass pickup, tortoise pickguard and either flat-wound, half-round or nylon tapewound strings.

Never been a 'burst guy myself, but that burst looks great!
I love my Squier. Everything else I've bought has come and gone, a Fender, a Dean, and an Ibanez, but my VM Jazz is something special. I had an Affinity Jazz that I should have kept (and modded, or something) but I foolishly sold it. :scowl:
I just have a special connection to it, it's the only bass I've ever gigged, and I hope it ages nicely with me.

Thanks! I generally avoid Fender sunbursts too, but as mentioned above, have plans for this one. I really called the store to buy the Shoreline Gold instrument, but ended up buying both since they were a bargain and shipping for two wasn't much more than for one.
When they were in production, I bought a green one. I eventually defretted it (it made a great fretless too) and like you, foolishly sold a Squier bass that I loved.
I'm foolishly trying to sell my Squier HM5 right now. I have GAS for a CV 50's Blonde. I just don't use the fiver since my VM Jazz is my main and I have the Tbird and G-3 to use as well. I know i'll regret it someday.

I needed a lightweight bass after heart surgery, so I got a Squier Jaguar VM Bass. I played it in this picture (just two nights ago) 5 weeks following my open heart operation. I think it looked, sounded and played outstandingly.

I picked one up recently, ex-demo from a shop in Dublin. I wondered why I didn't see many references to this particular finish, and thought the shop had created it by swapping out the neck.
Have changed the bridge for a Gotoh, and put on an off-white pearloid pickguard - photos later - and it's looking and sounding great.

And to start off, to be a member, you need to currently own a Squier and just put "Squier Owners Club" in your signature. We don't use numbers, they are for lesser clubs....
