Squier P-Bass: thoughts?

i am gonna be taking a look at a mid-90s squier fender p-bass pretty soon made from the fujigen factory. anyone know a lot about the overall quality of these basses? i'd love to hear your thoughts -go or no go? my buddy might be able to let it go for $275-$300.

Big tuners and gears? If so, then it's likely a pretty fair bass. Is it an Affinity?

I have one of the 1990 Affinity Ps and the neck is sweet, adjustable when it needs it, which isn't very much at all.

The p'ups died, well, actually one of them did and I put some Peavey split p'ups on it and all is well again.
