Squier ProTone Precision V vs. EBMM Stingray 5

My singer/guitarist's main guitar is a Squier Tele (the butterscotch model) that the rest of the band & I chipped in & bought him a few years ago (we got it on sale for $120!).
The only mod he did was to add Noiseless tele pickups - the rest of the g**tar is bone stock and sounds incredible. People (guitarists) on a regular basis come up to him in-between sets and gawk at the headstock when they see the Squier logo.
The whole "it's in the hands" factor comes into play, of course (he's a great player), but it once again goes to show that if you get a hold of a "good one", any instrument can be an awesome one.

I'm very interested in the protone guitar line also. Good to hear that brand ego isn't a factor too.
If the Squier were 35" scale, I'd be in heaven (only since it could handle a low A# a little better). I'd buy two more, refinish one black and sell the rest of my basses. Even the stingray, even my beloved Millennium, even my "never sell" Bulldog.
The wide neck is what I love the most.
Overall, I'm extremely impressed with the ProTone......just a fantastic, well built, great sounding instrument. So lively and punchy.

Mine set up pretty good.
My only tip is to get the Low B set up perfectly, then set your E string up a little higher then you'd like.
Somewhere closer to the height of the low B.
That way the low B, and E strings have a similar output.

yeah, lol, i still have it. I could never sell it, it's been through too much with me. You have a 5'er? Mine's a 4 string P/J.
One knob for P. One knob for J. One tone Knob.
So yes, lol. My favorite blend with this is p at full with the j at about 33-50% so i can get the fat p sound with a jazz pup accenting it. Its quiet spectacular. I am replacing it with a Geddy, however i plan on using it as a drop D or C#G#C#F# (really cool tuning my friend gave me)

I was going to say I noticed quite the difference when I changed my blend/vol controls to vol/vol.

also the pups aren't the originals, i replaced them for some active SD pups after the original passive ones crapped out on me.
