Squier Vint. Modified???

Is this even a good bass? it looks nice. i just need to know if it plays good.:bassist:

but...:rollno:its a squier...:hmm:

so....if i end up getting it, i will have to hide:hiding: and not bring it out on gigs or people will laugh and make fun of me:spit:

and ill probably start crying:crying:

That is a very good sounding and playing P-Bass. Don't let the name on the headstock fool you that is a quality instrument there. And the new Classic Vibe basses as well. Not being a wise guy do a search for Squier classic vibe or Squier Vintage Modified basses and you will see you might have to specify what model P-Bass or whetever when you search but there are several threads on these basses already.

Yeah a search will turn up tons of threads here (even people worried bout using a Squier in public!) I have a VM Fretless Jazz and its one hell of a bass for $279 (what I paid for it) I have absolutely no problem playing it in public. The new Squiers are great basses and nothing like the old ones.

If you can play no one cares what your bass looks like.


I showed my mom a geddy lee and told her it was 1200$, and than i showed her an affinity and asked how much do you think that is and she said abot 1000$. People who do not play have no idea what the bass is or worth. Unless its really put together bad and looks cheap.

I got the much-accalaimed Squier VM Fretless Jazz used a while back and it's as great as everyone says, so I recently picked up the VM Precision, too (for $135!).

Let me tell you, anybody who knows anything knows that the Squier VM series rocks...so unless you're worried about know-nothings...

I can't say enough good things about my VM Jazz bass I love it. I haven't gigged with it yet but when that does happen I will have no problem with being seen up on stage with a VM Squire. The VM series of basses are the best things Squire has put out in a longtime if not the best ever. And from what I hear the classic vibe series are in the same class. My 2 cents.

Once again, two minutes isn't long enough to warrant a bump. Bad manners around here, man.

On topic, The Squier VMs are pretty widely considered good instruments for the money. If you like them, play one proudly and don't let what other people think affect whether or not you get it. People will care about the brand less than you realize.

Absolutely love my Squier VM Jazz, also! The neck on mine is incredible. I love the action, the tone, the maple body and neck - everything about it.. I still can't believe it's a Squier.. Bought it immediately after picking it up and playing it, and haven't really put it down since...

I want that bass pretty badly right now. Ideally, I would get it and replace the pickguard with one that matches what is on my Squier CV 60s Jazz (a dark tort with a yellow swirl look) and also swap the neck for one from the CV Precision that has the vintage tint. Mmm. A thumbrest would be nice. I don't really use it when its in the tugbar position.

I have a VM P bass that plays/feels/sounds great; that being said, as w/ most squiers, I had about 6 or 7 of them to pick from in the store. None of the others felt like the one I bought, so maybe it had a setup on it at some point? Feels great until you a/b it with my '84 MIJ p bass, then you can tell it's a squier. My advice is to be sure you want it, because I tried to sell mine on CL & couldn't even get $200 for it, & that was with a hardshell case. Not much resale, but I guess people don't buy 'em to re-sell 'em, ha ha. Great for modding, but sounds great the way it is as well. Who cares what other people think...
