Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz vs Affinity Jazz

Going to be buying or ordering a bass tomorrow. This is my 2nd post. Mostly looking to add something to home recordings, nothing fancy - or jam with my band on maybe 25% of our songs on bass (primarily guitar) - we're just a garage band. There is a $129 price difference in Canadian dollars between the Squier Affinity Jazz bass ($199.99) and the Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz bass ($329.99). Other than the beautiful looking natural finish body and maple fretboard with nice block inlays, is there really that much difference between the two? Just want some ideas/advice please. I can try the Affinity in person but would have to order in the 70s one....

I have the VM 70's Jazz bass and I can highly recommend it. Looks great, as you know, but it also (IMO) sounds and plays beautifully. Don't really know anything about the Affinity, but the records indicate the QC on them can occasionally leave something to be desired. Then again, there are a number of folks her who seem to be quite happy with their Affinitys.
I had to order mine online, and I was quite happy with it.

thanks!! I went middle of the road - vintage modified regular Jazz bass. Got one second hand for $240.00 at my local shop - sunburst with a nice tort pickguard. I love the sound of the Fender Design pickups, much boomier and meatier sounding than the Affinity pickups. Here's a photo, and on the left is an old 80s Squier I bought today for $15.00 on our canadian version of craigslist to learn how to do fretwork on.
