Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Short Scale

Honestly, I'm surprised they've been gone as long as they have. The ones on the used market have been slowly creeping up in price.
I could see Squier rebooting them in the Sonic line - eliminating the painted headstock, doing some basic colors, that sort of thing.

Had 2 of them. They were ergonomic marvels and sounded great. They were also total steals at $500 on CL for the pair. I’d love to see some

I'd like to see them with a J/J option instead of P/J. Even a 32" scale would be fine.
Was a properly fettled and setup Mike Kerr Jaguar bass really that bad?
My understanding is that some models had badly aligned bridges and other fixable issues that whilst not considered acceptable for such an expensive MIM instrument, could be sorted out. The string alignment seemed more complicated, especially as all the issues with the little bridge pickup and it's uneven coverage were clearly by design once everything else lined up.
I'd never dream of paying the $1400 new price, but recently was very tempted by one in good condition for half that – which seemed like a good deal. I'm not really bothered by the bridge pickup, but could see adding a blend would let me dial in some trebley grit alongside the phat humbucker for occasional textures.
My understanding is the Mike Kerr has a smaller body too, which is my biggest issue with Jaguar basses. I'm loving the fun playability of my Squier Rascal, but a lighter, smaller and more compact 30" scale offset is really what I need – ideally with at least one Wide Range humbucker!
I'm still quite sorry I never bought that used Mike Kerr for such a good price, it looked like everything I was looking for aside from the colour which I could still live with. Do you think I would have ended up disappointed? Is some kind of Mustang, such as the cool but sought after Pawn Shop series, what I should be looking for?
I just love the Jaguar shape, I can't understand why only Fender Japan and Squier seem interested in building them these days. I'm surprised there's no other artist who's requested a short scale Jaguar bass as a signature model, given how popular the traditional Mustang bass seems today!
I just signed up here because I stumbled into this post on a Google search after picking up a great condition 2015 Candy Apple Red. Yes, these are great Basses and are real fun to play. If you really want to get excited about how great they can sound, here is Mario Lalli playing these regularly in the Brant Bjork Trio and Yawning Man. (Modified with a BS-DS Curtis Novak set) It just sounds fantastic and I agree they should bring these back.
You can get the Jaguar H Affinity series. 32" scale with a MM pickup. Great modding platform. Two J pups could be added but with a pickup upgrade of the stock ceramic MM style it's transformed.
