Squier VM Mustang or Ibanez SR300?

I hear what you're saying. I think I'm going to order a Mustang and try it (I've already tried the Ibanez). The store I'll be ordering from has a 30 money back guarantee if I don't like the instrument so I have nothing to lose buy ordering it in.

Not to mention that the Squier Mustang could be a great mod platform. There are a number of Mustang replacement pickups out there and other assorted electronic/parts upgrades that could be done to improve the stock Squier. You could potentially end up with a helluva nice short scale bass with premium upgrades and still come in way under what a Fender Mustang would cost you.

Maybe so, but IME the stock Squier pickup, bridge and tuners are as good as those of the current RI Mustang (I have both basses). All it needs is good strings, a setup and a case.
