Squire Deluxe Active Jazz + 90's Kubicki preamp?

So after 10 years of playing on junk, followed by 10 years away from music, I've decided to start playing again and seem to have the makings of a decent little rig. Got a Squire Deluxe Active Jazz V, Fender Rumble 800 combo, and Mesa Boogie Diesel 4x10 cab.

I also have my old crappy 5 string, which is an early 90's Fender Jazz Plus V. The previous owner replaced the original Kubicki preamp and Lace Sensors with EMG electronics, but kindly gave me the originals with the bass.

Now, the Lace Sensors and EMGs all seem to be a little longer than the stock pickups in the Squire, but the screws seem to be evenly spaced across them all, and the pickup holes in the Squire look like they have gaps on both ends of the pickups that might accomodate the EMGs or Laces. Can anyone confirm this?

And, are the Kubicki preamps so sought after simply because they're rare, or is there something else? Might an early 90's Kubicki be worth swapping into this Squire?

When it comes to anything "Kubicki", I always default to @JIO for information. Hopefully, he'll have some insight. Personally, I think almost anything would be an upgrade for a Squier Active Jazz. I had one a ways back and it wasn't bad...just kinda "there".

As for the pickup dimensions, the Squier Deluxe series seemed to fall into the same category as the Squier Standard series. They drifted away from the Fender "blueprint" in little ways, but frustratingly enough to require a bit of modding here or there. It's possible you might need to give the pickup routes a little haircut to accommodate any replacements, much like I had done to a Squier Standard Jazz. It wasn't a lot...just enough to be more compatible.

There are two versions of a Kubicki pre; 18v (Kubicki-Kubicki) and 9v (FCS/Kubicki- '90-'94 only). There is something special about a Kubicki pre.(either version) I've owned three Ex-Factors, two with the 9v pre, which I prefer. I currently have two of the FCS/Kubicki 9v pre's installed in custom basses. The pre is the Ex-Factor sound, regardless of what platform, so your Squier will sound like a Factor if paired with decent pu's.
