squire v cort

The thing about entry-level basses is that the quality of each instrument off the line is very inconsistent. You can get an instrument that is absolutely fantastic and comparable to more expensive models, but you can get a lemon just as easily. If I were you and shopping in this price range, I'd do my best to get something I had a chance to lay my hands on first. Either of these could be the better option, but you won't know if you're shooting in the dark.

Both are made in the same factory and are decent for the money.... The cort looks like it might be a bit more versatile...
+1 Quality is equivalent as they're made in the same factory, but I would opt for the Cort. the P/J pickups offer more versatility- it's a P Bass plus an extra Jazz pickup, so it can pretty much get the P Bass sound, and you can dial in some extra bite with that jazz pickup.

Besides, if some noob wanted to do a search, and he did one for Squire, thinking that's how it's spelled, it's likely they might not find anything. You're only doing them a favor.

Not to get on anyone, but yes it is Squier, you'll be surprised at how many good deals there are on Ebay because no-one is searching for a "Squire" bass, or few people are- and the Ebay search engine isn't pulling up ads with this misspelling. I bought a "Squire MB5" awfully cheap once, in fact was the only bidder and won, in the meantime, other Squier MB5s had multiple bidders pushing the price up on those.
