Hey i'm kinda new at this and i was wondering if i could change the 1206 preamp with an aguilar obp3.....the thing is i played 1 1206 but did not really like the tone, just the feeling and looks, and thought that maybe an obp3 could do the job, but will it work i?

SR1206 with obp3?

I have an SR1206 and I've been talking about replacing eclectronics for nearly 15 years! I feel the same way about the bass. It plays like a machine looks beautiful but often sounds like s**t. I'm ordering some Barts next week and getting rid of the preamp entirely to achieve a vintage warmth - I'll let you know how I make out.
I've installed Barts in my 1206 and am running them totally passive - It F@%#ing Rocks! IMO, active eq's just sound like "boom/click"
I've got an SR1206 and it's output is extremely low (though I don't mind the actual tone). Is this normal with the SR1206?
