sr305 5-string

I found the tone to be a bit vacant, but for playability, it's nice. I'd suggest an SR505 if you can swing the extra coin.
On my sr300 four string. Adjusting the pups heights and dialing in the tone sweeper eq control. Then replacing the stock strings. Makes for very very good sounding bass to me. Out of the box, the pups needing adjustment for lower action and pup height on both to get best tone. And the stock elixers had bleh sound. Rotosound swing66 & daddario xl nickel strings diff give better tone. Though some would prefer other strings.
Id say the SR305 would be very good choice. Just set it up for both action, & pup heights, also replace the stock strings with your string preferance for best sound.

Hells yes on the SR505. I don't know what the 305 is like. But the Ibanez SR line is well known for it's amazing playability.
I do still love my SR300, though. That thing is a piece of $250 magic.

If you're an advanced bass player looking for an affordable bass guitar, I would say you've made the right choice. the Ibanez sr305 is really a great sounding bass guitar that's suitable for any genre of music.
I have one. Plays nice, sounded not-so-hot until I replaced the preamp and pickups with SGDs. I figured I could get the sr305 and replace all the electronics cheaper than a high end Ibanez with Nordstroms. I like Pearl White anyway. No matter how nice fancy wood looks in the showroom, it looks funky under colored stage lights.

I owned a sr305 for a while and played one a few months ago at a local shop. Extremely weak B string. Adjusting pick up height didnt help.
I had a 305 for a while. Didn't like it. Not one bit. Older model with a cheesy bridge.
