SR305EB active passive switch

Hi, Ive recently bought an Ibanez sr305eb. It doesn't have a active-passive switch so it wont work without a 9v battery. I was wondering if i there are any mods i can diy to add something like a active passive switch. Any help? And how long do these batteries last? Im currently using the one that came from the factory with it.

I just did this with my 405eqm. I swapped the separate treble and bass knobs for a stacked control to free up a hole and then put in a 3 pole double throw to switch out the preamp and shut off the power.

This is assuming you have the newer preamp that Ibanez puts in just about everything. The Ibanez factory preamp is all pluggable for what ever configuration was installed. If all you want to do is switch active/passive and have no care for saving the battery, there's also a push pull volume control that some instruments come with that can be swapped in. This also gives you a passive time control on one of the EQ knobs. I soldered in the switch because I wanted to be able to just leave it plugged in without killing the battery.

Give me a day or so and I'll dig up my supplier. It's tough getting Ibanez parts and you'll wait for them because they ship from Japan. Only one dealer I know of in North America.

Thanks! I think i have that preamp you are talking about. It has the power tap thing and it was recently manufactured (2024 March).
