So I have an ibanez sr500 and I was wondering a few things, with the stock bartolini mk-1 electronics/pickups is it possible to rewire the mid frequency switch to a pull push mid knob? And if I did would it be difficult to wire in a passive/active switch where the old switch was?

Is the preamp PCB mounted?
If it isn't, the push/pull mod is simple.
The active/passive switch might require a bit more rewiring, depending on the position of the volume pot.
If you have a low value volume pot after the preamp, you will need to increase the value and move it before the preamp to do active/passive switching. Otherwise, you can just add in an active/passive switch.

It would be easier to check inside the control cavity than wait for someone else to do it.
The easy way to do this would to take out the supplied eq system and install one of the Bartolini NTMB eq system and you would be able to utilise the hole for the mid switch as pre amp on off..have a look at the Best Bass gear site to see te various comfigurations of the NTMB systems..

Sorry ive got mixed up here..the active passive switch is in the volume push pull knob..the switch is a eq switch which now becomes a 3 way switch with 3 eq setitings ..unlike the Ibanez one which only has two
The preamp is not PCB mounted, so you can rewire to your heart's content without too much trouble.
For the push/pull, first off, this is a two position switch, correct?
If so, you can simply follow the same wiring for the push/pull switch as your existing mini toggle. The terminals and their layout are identical to the mini toggle switch's.
For the active/passive switch, it is still unclear whether the volume pot is a high resistance value before the preamp, or a low resistance value after the preamp.
You will need a 250k/500k volume before the preamp to add an active/passive switch. If there is a 25k/50k/100k after the preamp, you will need to increase the value and rewire it.

That's odd.
The value of the blend pot would indicate a low impedance signal. Since the pickups are shown to be passive, that means that, apparently, they are individually buffered before reaching the blend pot. That's going to make it difficult to do a passive setup, since the blend pot must have a high resistance, and not be connected to the preamp in passive mode.
You may have to skip the individual buffers and run a higher value blend with the pickups feeding directly into it. Though it is unclear if the EQ or any special filtering or such is applied before the blend.
That wiring dieagram is for the earlier Bartolini MK 1 bass pre amp without the mid switch..ive looked at the Ibanez wiring diagrams and they dont have the current one for download at the moement..the current pre amp is a Ibanez design not Bartolini
