Hi all,

I just bought an Eden D410XLT off of a very nice man locally. My current setup is a 70s Ampeg V4-B (I'm a tube nut), an Eden D210XLT and an Eden D115XLT. I'm playing mostly rock and occasionally jazz. I plan on mostly using the 4x10 solo, but I do plan on selling one of my other Edens and stacking the one I keep with the 4x10 when I need to. My question is: which cab should I keep? What will sound the best with the 4x10?

Thanks,
Nick

I used to own an Eden 410 can't imagine you'd need anymore so I voted for sell both....If in fact you think you'll need more having the option of either is a good idea and you can work it out on the gig to see which one you prefer.

With a 2x10 and a 4x10 both at 8 ohms, you'd be giving each speaker in the 2x10 twice the power of each speaker in the 4x10 ... so you would not be optimally using the array. And 8 ohm 4x10 and a 4 ohm 4x10 is the perfect 6x10 setup.

May or may not matter for you. If you head puts out more than 700 watts at 4 ohms, you'd be putting the 2x10 at risk.

Either one should sound really good, just be careful not to blow the lower handling cabs. 6 eden 10s does make quite a wall of punch, and the eden 15 adds tons of cushion to the sound that works great in a rock band.

Any way you can keep all three? You should at least try all of the combos before selling anything. The 15 + 210 is also a great stack, with more balanced power handling to boot.

It's 100w tube, so nothing's really gonna get hurt by any combo.

Great ... in that case I'd sell the 15. The 115XLT likes a lot of clean power, where the eden 10's just like to get loud even with a lower power signal. The 6x10 stack should pump, just experiment with putting the 2x10 on the bottom (should give more bass) and the 2x10 on top (should seem "louder" since the speakers getting more power will be at ear level).

I've never had any cone creasing problems with the 210XLTs I've had, and I've even pushed them with 400 watts.

That's good.
Maybe my previous band was just too crazy loud.
I switched from two 210XLTs to the 410XLT with one 210XLT sitting on top.
What a beautiful sound driven by my WT800.
But a heavy rig and often a pain to move.
I found at TV sessions and smaller gigs one 210XLT was not really cutting enough and so I had to push it quite hard.
Great in recording sessions though and coffee shop type gigs.

I was at Low Down Sound two weekends ago testing out basses through an Eden WT405, into a 210 and 410, both XLT style cabs. Great midrange punch and old-school rock n roll grit and drive. My brother said, "Whatever these settings are, write them down and copy it on your Eden when you get home!" Which was quite easy, cuz I ran the amp FLAT at 12:00 on every EQ setting. Heh heh.

Yeah 15's sound good, but I've never got a 15 or 18 cab paired with 10's to sound the way I want them. So I'm saying...

Get rid of both the 15 and the 210, and go get a 210XST! That put on the ground, with the 410XLT on top is a terrifying, foundation-fracturing rig! You'll make enemies of your neighbors in no time. Promise.

A single 210xlt only works as a stage monitor IMO, if you dial out the low lows and point it at your ears (either angled up or on a riser). It won't keep up with a full band on its own ... for me. I can definitely see blown driver happening if you're trying to get a full bass sound from the poor little guy.

Yup...I think you are right.
I hear the 210XST with the 410XLT is a great match.
I love my 410 so much...I buy other gear and love it, but always come back to my 410XLT and am thrilled with it.:hyper:
