stage lights

Can someone reccomend a way that I can make or buy a light setup that would allow someone to control the lights by switch etc. I would like to have at least two colored lights and a strobe and have my friend to the side of the stage have control over them.

And some extension cords are cheap ways to get some switching. There's lots of other more expensive ways to go as well.
