I really like the tone of the Pro Steels but find the feel a bit rough to my fingers and I'm a huge fan of Rotosounds!D'Addario Pro Steels get my vote. Good price, great tone and long lasting.

What I really disliked about the ProSteels was their inherent scooped sound. YMMV.D'Addario Pro Steels get my vote. Good price, great tone and long lasting.
I really like the tone of the Pro Steels but find the feel a bit rough to my fingers and I'm a huge fan of Rotosounds! The tension of the 45-105 set feels a bit stiffer than my Rotos as well. I have a set of Pro Steels EXL165 45-105 on my Fender AVRI 62 Jazz. Good strings though and they last and last...

You know I heard that before about the Pro Steel scoop? I actually find the Pro Steels quite balanced at least to my ears? I've used DR Hi Beams for example and really found those to be too scooped for my taste? What I really disliked about the ProSteels was their inherent scooped sound. YMMV.
Too funny! Just posted about the PS scoop!Wow! Pro Steels feel rougher and stiffer than Rotosounds! My experience has been the opposite. I didn't think there was anything rougher than Rotos. My fingertips were shredded like parmesan cheese after trying those! But we're all different and that's a good thing.
I hear that pretty often from people. I hear the "scoop" in the lower mids but like the aggressive upper midrange attack I get with the Pro Steels. Similar to Roto's.

It probably all depends on the bass and pickups. My reference is my Gibson Thunderbird. You know I heard that before about the Pro Steel scoop? I actually find the Pro Steels quite balanced at least to my ears? I've used DR Hi Beams for example and really found those to be too scooped for my taste?
When I was using SS all the time, these are mostly what I used.D'Addario Pro Steels get my vote. Good price, great tone and long lasting.
