While driving home from BP last night American Pie came on the radio. Instead of switching stations as I normally would, I listened... to the lyrics. While I know the song was inspired by the death of Buddy Holly, the lyrics still make no sense. Yet most people can sing along to that entire song. And it's a long one.

The above can also be said (lest the Buddy Holly part) about Stairway to Heaven, and Bohemian Rhapsody.

All 3 of these songs were longer than any pop songs of their time, all of them became gargantuan hits, and all 3 of them make no sense whatsoever.

Wussup with that?

And how many have ever realized how ridiculous the lyrics are in American Pie.

"I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died"

OK... Yep......
