Nice thing about playing acoustic is, you can do the whole real thing without plugging in.

Well, you can play bass without plugging in, too. You just have to get one of those hollow body basses with the 42" scale, an end pin, a body that's about 9" deep, and a bridge that's 6" high.

Been stalking a 5'er like that for a while now. Can't figure out how to get it delivered!

Is the one on the lower right an Earthwood? I have wanted one of those for a long time, but suspect I would never be willing to pay market rate for one.

It's the same size and shape as an Earthwood. The box is 19 wide, 25 long, 6 deep and 32" scale. Weighs 5.5 lbs. Built by Jose Mota of Providence RI, who makes guitars for fado players. This bass has a slotted head, movable saddle, and interior soundhole ring...like a classical guitar. I caught it on eBay and snatched it up at $450. Be jealous.

How does it sound? Are there any more of them?

It sounds very much like a 2/4 upright bass....lot of thump and resonance, louder than my Thunderchief by a lot.

The guy lives in Providence RI, and builds fado and classical guitars in his basement. According to his son, he only ever made two or three basses. They had no idea how this one ended up in a pawnshop in MS. Just one of those lucky finds.
