Stammie vs Alembic

This isn't a straight "which is better" or it'd be a poll, I'm looking to hear opinions on the benifits and values of each.

Some info:
I'm currently playing an Alembic Epic 4 string, through a GK2001rbp through a crown drivecore and 2 Acme low B4s. It's a beautiful sound, and I love it, just looking to hear something different. Something I've heard is made with the same level of professionalism, and the opportunity to swap over is here. In fact, the exact custom stammie I've wanted since stammies were brought to my knowledge.

So, just looking for some input, any opinions, up or down, are appreciated.

chris stambaugh is a more than capable builder of finely crafted instruments, get in touch with him and discuss your dream machine with him. I own several myself, no complaints here. The Alembics I,ve had an oppurtunity to play were very Hi-Fi sounding and a little on the heavy side.

I've played a Stambaugh, and it was a very, very nice bass.

However, if you're USED to the Alembic clarity, I'd be afraid that just about any other bass will sound like it's "missing" something to you. As he said, they're really hi-fi, as definitively clean and clear as basses get... period.

If you're looking for a narrower, warmer sound, go for it. But keep the Alembic, or you may be sorry.

Chris built a Resonance chambered 5 for me 2 years ago. I wanted 1 Mag. & 1 Piezo P.U. sort of a Rob Allen but more flexible. Frets & metal bridge.
