Star Trek XI !

According to an article in the Daily Variety, the new film will be a prequel to the original Star Trek series, featuring younger versions of characters like James T. Kirk and Spock. The movie will chronicle events such as their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and their first mission into outer space

Dunno, sounds tricky to me, "younger" versions, also because it's unlikely that they'll live up to the original.

Don't believe anything you read in Wikipedia!! :hmm:

Did you read the discussion behind this ....?

Here's a quote :

"This article is a mess
I have given this article a rewrite to try and remove as much crystal ball and speculation material as possible, but I fear it will not survive an AFD challenge as it now stands. The whole thing is nothing but rumor..."

It's an odd numbered movie, so it's going to suck.

Think about it. Star Trek the Movie? REALLY sucked. Wrath of Khan? Awesome. Search for Spock? Sucked. Voyage Home? Awesome. Final Frontier? Sucked. Undiscovered Country? Awesome.

etc etc etc.

Except that 'Nemisis' (Star Trek X) kinda broke that mold. Not that it sucked, but IMHO, is was the TNG cast version of 'Wrath of Kahn':

There's a bad-ass dude with a hard-on for the Enterprise Captain (Kahn - Shinzon)

Bad-ass dude has a bad-ass weapon (Project Genisis - Thalaron weapon)

Glorious space battle were Enterprise get beats up pretty bad, but does also inflict major damage on bad-ass dude's ship.

Bad-ass dude activates bad-ass weapon with no hope of escape for the Enterprise.

Beloved side kick sacrifices self to save Enterprise (Spock - Data).

Possibility left open for return of side kick (Spock's body on the Genisis Planet - B-4 Singing).

No, Nemesis followed the pattern, as it was an even numbered movie. Generations was okay, but it wasn't great. I think that casting Malcolm McDowell was perfect, but the rest kinda stunk. Then came first contact, which was much better. Then insurrection, which must have stunk cause I can't remember the plot line at all. Then Nemesis, which yes, totally rocked. Especially the suicidal ram, that was awesome.:D

Rock on

Yes, but not enough battle scenes and too much yakitiyakiti about the Bajorans and the relations between the crewmembers, the captains son etc etc. The Ferengi stuff was fun too, but it just lacked something. I thought Voyager was great, especially the Borg, Species ***** and the Hirogen.

Crap, I'm a nerd.

I'll take Voyager over DS9 any day.
At least there was some variety...... DS9 was like a sitcom about Star Trek, with a Ferengi sideman and a shapeshifting straight guy...... some thing like "Abbot and Costello Go To Space".
And the Voyager/Flyer combo kicked the hell outta the Defiant.
And species 8573 is about the creepiest thing since the Alien in Alien.
