Starfire's

Another update I bought a second one in black (Might have mentioned I was going to) :D but it seems to have some problems

Feel free to chime in anyone with some ideas but I will say acoustically it seems to sound a bit nicer than the cherry one.

I think I'm going to have both tuned DGCF but one with flats one with rounds. Thinking really heavy rounds like 50-110's I've also got a capo as well so I'm going to experiment with some uber low tuning as Justin recommended.

justin, did you eventually determine if that DeArmond starfire you once had really was made of bad wood? i will get one delivered at my house tomorrow. i'll buy it from a guy who once interviewed you at the paradiso for a magazine called music maker.
on the internet i only read good reviews about this starfire, but because of your incredible reputation and knowledge and experience, i'm really curious about your eventual verdict about that DeArmond. did you ever encounter another piece to check out?

My De Armond sucked, that's all I know. It sounded lifeless and generic. The US Starfire was a total knockout in comparison. Who knows? Could have had a bad one, I never heard another one to compare.

This is my JMJ inspired Starfire

I've now own 3 and this hands down beats the other 2 in playability though one did sound nicer acoustic but this has darkstars now so it's hard to beat plugged in.

i had two warwick stars. both were bubinga satin finish. clear articulate tone(34"scale perhaps) with rounds need to hear one with flats. Passive controls. sounds nothing like a starfire,eb2,coronado or any other bass i have played. FWIW i have been a collector of guilds since 2003. In hindsight i would have stopped after one and focused on playing instead of gear.
