Double Bass Starting Again

Hello there,
I started playing bass about a year ago, taking it slow and trying to not develop bad habits. I started on French, but switched to German as I knew I'd be moving to Germany and thought it would be easier to find instruction. I am now in Germany, and haven't played for months, but have finally located and instrument and bow (not sure which variety) that I can use.

My question, where do I start? I left everything back in Canada, but I can possibly get my first Rabbath book sent out. But I will be able to use it soon. Are there any exercises, even online printable ones, that will help me get back into the swing of things?

Thanks very much

I'm also planning on getting back into things, but for me it has been a while longer. I played for 6 years previously, throughout high school and then as a music performance major in college for 2 years. It's been a further 6 years now, And every day I look at my poor bass I feel worse for not playing anymore. I might be being a bit of a baby, but I find playing more than 15 minutes at a time completely exhausting for my left hand. Mostly I've just been doing arco scales from time to time to verify that I can indeed still at least operate my instrument, even if not actually play it. Are scales a good way to start? I still have my Simandl book. Would it be advisable to just start at the beginning and work my way through? Or would just following the already provided instructions be sufficient?
