I'm thinking about picking up bass later this year after playing guitar for a while. I'm not going to lie, I don't know anything about bass guitars and what I should be looking for as far as sound goes. My favorite band is Tool and after doing some research and seeing how much the model Justin Chancellor plays, I can't say I've got the thousands of dollars to spend on it lol. Anyway, I'm looking for a bass with a sound similar to Tool's, carries a good midrange that I can play pretty active with rather than just set a monotonous rythm that can pack some power. Four or five string doesn't matter to me, but if any of you guys can help me out that'd be awesome, thanks.
