Starting my 2nd bass soon, some neck advice?

So I'm going to start in on my 2nd bass, plans are in the works. The first was a passive, fretless 4, goncalo alves and ebony neck from Warmoth, with a hard maple body with some purpleheart. It looks alright, plays well and was a good learning experience, but man is that thing solid!

Using the weight as my excuse, I'm going to build a fretted 5, with some lighter weight wood for the body (probably ash or alder with something over top) and I want to make the neck! I know this is going to be a bit more difficult then the last one, so I want my best chance at getting it right the first time.

Now I implore those who have more experience than me, (tonal differences aside) for ease of building, which should I pick: bolt-on, set neck, or neck through? :help:
