Double Bass stat B and headway EDM 1 problem

I would really like to know if the EDB1 powers the Stat B. I just bought a Stat B without a preamp and I am hoping that the EDB1 will power it up. I don't want another preamp in my life, especially another 9v little box to perch on top of my amp. Anybody know if this combination works together?

Piro,

I once had a conversation with Rick Jones of AI about the Schertler DYN-B, running directly into an AI Focus. He maintained that Schertler Pickups, sound better thru Schertler pre amps, into your amps front end.
Rick felt that the older Stat B (now called the Stat B Vintage was one of the most natural sounding pickups for Double Bass. I know this doesn't help much, but it's all I've got. I do know that in the case of
The Ehrlund EAP, you need the boost of the Ehrlund Pre Amp, into the Headway EDB-1 or EDB-2, to get the most out of that pickup on my bass. I hate using multiple nine volt devices to, so I went with a powered QSC K8 so I only have 2 boxes.

The Stat B requires 9v phantom, AFAIK. I don't know if 12v is compatible. The Gigpro and EDM1 both supply 9v, AFAIK, as do the Schertler pre's.

Not sure why the OP's EDM1 isn't working correctly. Maybe the phantom tip connection is wrong for the Stat? Are you sure the phantom is turned on?

The Gigpro is working fine for me with the Stat B.

Hello

I bought a headway EDM1 for use with my schertler Stat B, I use phantom power on TIP position, it works, but I have almost no sound powerful, you have an idea why ???

PS, I tested it with my Bassmax, and I have a really good powerful sound

Based on what's been said, since the EDM-1 powers the phantom at 12volts, it's likely that the you've got a mismatch to the Schertler Stat B. Schertler pickups are not piezos, they are electrostatic pickups.

Jeff Pautrat gave me the solution (it's my new guru )

1 connect the output (to turn the preamp)
2 put the phantom power on tip starting from the off position
3 connect the StatB and miracle, I have a fabulous sound

it's crazy but it works

I've used Stat B's with both Stat Pre and PreAll before getting the Gigpro. The Gigpro sounds as good to me
as the Schertler Pre's and has a few extra features. It's also less money. My 2 Stat Pre's failed after a while and the PreAll was showing signs of going bad, so I bought the Gigpro.

I get a very consistent sound across 3 basses with the Stat B and have used it for at least 10 years now.

First, my interest in the Stat B vintage which is what I bought is connected directly with the passing of my teacher and former employer, Charlie Haden. I was not prepared for how much Charlie's passing has me deep in a reverie.
Anyway having tried many of the major pickups over the past 25 years including a long tenure with this pickup, I feel that the combination of the Headway preamp and the MAS 46 changes things so significantly that nearly any pickup can sound good ( I am using an Underwood right now)
If I could get the Edb1 to fire up the Stat B I'd be happy.
Anyone got a Schertler Pre for sale, in case I cant make it work straight in?

Hey I see that the EDB1 has 18volts of phantom on the mic (xlr) input...if the EDB2 works with 18 volts would it be possible to make a cord that used the xlr phantom on the EDB1? and terminated in the RCA of the Stat...and have the STAT fire up that way?
