Static Hiss

My multi effects is putting out a lot of staticky hissing and Id like to know what I can do to cut this down.

So far Ive confirmed that it IS the multi effects, not the bass amp or any patch cords, and the best option I can think of is to send it though the effects loop. However, Im not 100% sure on how to put a multi effects in the effects loop

Is the hissing affected by whether or not you're touching the strings/bridge? Could be a grounding problem, I had a Zoom B2 that was really noisy when using a certain power supply with a certain bass. If it is, then shield the pickup and control cavities in your bass, make sure everything is earthed correctly, etc. If the Multi-FX can run on batteries, try that to rule out the power supply.

If all else fails, and you still want to keep your multi, a noise reduction pedal, like the Boss or ISP might help. But, it only cuts noise when you're NOT playing.

Two things:

1. Which Multi is it? Many have some kind of noise control built in that can be added into the mix.

2. How did you determine that it was your Multi. I'm not trying to doubt your technique, but if we're trying to help you on a flawed assumption this will never get fixed.

And when I remove the muli from the chain, I have no static.

EDIT: To dannyboy, no. Pick up settings and touching the strings dont effect it. My bass has a 2 band active EQ, and obviously when you turn the treble up it gets more staticky.
