Happen to be near Clayton NY right now, spending some time along the St Lawrence Seaway. The Steel Drivers are on tour, and Clayton was one of their stops, so I went to the show last night.
Bassist Mike Fleming sounded, and played, great. Spoke with him briefly after the show; his setup is: Chadwick folding bass with Zyex strings; Ear Trumpet mic; Fishman piezo; through a Felix to their sound person who travels with them. There was also a big GK behind him on the stage. Lot's of stuff hanging on the tailpiece.
The sound person made it all work flawlessly, in my opinion. And, the Clayton Opera House has a great system.
The band sounded as good as expected; the new lead singer (1 year) is very talented.
Interesting side note - the opening act is Troubadour Blue. Tammy Rogers' daughter and son, Brenna and Eli Wheeler, plus Dan Ethridge. Great vocals and some entertaining original material.
