Does anyone know who is playing bass on Brooklyn Owes The Charmer?
If it was Walter Becker then he was really a superb bass player.
Kinda makes you wonder why they would have felt the need to outsource. Lol

It was Becker, but he is one of those players who wad a guitarist first, but not so virtuosic that he would be one of the dual leads, so filling the bass position was the logical move. When you have a pair like Baxter and Diaz, you'd want to stay out of their way. As the band fragmented, becoming more of a concept, their musical vision expanded and moved beyond standard rock format; specialist musicians were brought in to make that happen. Becker, as the co-writer, started playing more guitar, leaving the bass playing to the pros, although he would occasionally return to the instrument. It was what the later material would require.

There are several tracks on that album that clearly display very competent bass playing.

Turn that Heartbeat Over Again is another fine example.
