Steinberger Club

Ok, if you go here and look at the third picture (click on the one in the middle) ..

That bridge looks just like this one (even has the same graphics on it) ...

Which implies that the replacement parts that are at that same company will fit the Spirit XT-2 bass bridge ...

http://www.headlessusa.com/bass-jaws

But since jaws (aka "claws") are $125 per set of four, and a replacement bridge - the ENTIRE bridge - is $129.00 ... well the problem is obvious. Just buy a new bridge I would guess.

But still, $129.00 for a headless bridge is very competitive.

And they also have the single-ball string converters as well, in brass or aluminum - $40.00 each.

Here's another headpiece made of Stainless Steel that accepts double ball OR single ball strings ... sweet!

So, couple all of that with what Walter Bush has located and it looks like Spirit parts are COVERED!

Here's what Walter Bush added ...

http://bgstainless.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1&zenid=028baa8b53de81bd15f0aeaf7e09a0e7

So, we've covered:

** Replacement pickups (EMG HB series).
** Replacement bridges.
** Replacement jaws in both high carbon steel and stainless steel.
** Single-ball string adaptors and headpieces.

That seals it. I'm going to snag me a Spirit.

Played the Synapse at my gig the other night. It got two thumbs up from the bandmates. It has a very focused, full bottom end. The highs are *really* crispy. I had to roll them off from the preamp and the amp more than I usually would. By the third set, I had dialed in a nice, full growly tone with a heavy bottom end. Two thumbs up. My first bass as a kid was a Steinberger copy, so these instruments always feel natural to me.

I'm playing the Woodstock Festival next weekend. We'll see if the bandmates let me bring such a modern looking instrument. ;)

Pros: Heavy bottom end. Comfortable neck. Easy to play. Smooth, responsive controls.
Cons: High end is too crispy. The piezo isn't very useful on its own.
Personal taste: Headless and 18v active electronics.

Hi there lads

I just bought a Spirit XT2-5, as I didn't have a 5 and it was cheap, used.

Its not bad actually, but nothing like the real deal, and a bit different from when they were made by Cort / Hohner.

So I made a quick vid to show the differences

Pickups are a little weddy, compared to the selects

I would think you could get it even cheaper. But, of it is something you need now, that may not be the worse deal.

On a personal note, I got a 5 string synapse (used) about 3 years ago and I traded an American standard p-bass for it. I was getting shoulder surgery and knew I was gonna not be able to handle the weight of a strap for a few months (turned out to be about 7months total). With the fold out leg stand, the synapse was the only bass I could play at the time. It is still my main gigging bass.

well, its 300 cheaper for a start.
But I'm sure private sellers might have them even cheaper.

For the money they're a good instrument.

Defintely a departure n many ways from the classic design, but different does not always equate to worse.

I'm in no rush.

Are they much better than the synapse???

Absolutely, I believe so anyway, but they're different tonally too

As for the links, those are ASKING prices - it hasn't sold yet, has it?

Here's one that did sell, for 600 more than your original synapse link:

I bought two here on TB - around 2k in excellent condition. I did say you weren't far off, if the bass was in "player's " condition

I've seen them go for as little as 900 euro and upwards.
