Steinberger Synapse hook

I just bought a Steinberger Synapse bass. iy comes with a hook. do I just put my strap on it or is there a way to use strap locks?

I thought you could do either. I'd probably install a rear-facing Dunlop locking strap button with a machine screw and locking washer. You'd also have to reverse the strap-end orientation, as well.
