Sound gurus. Months ago I finally decided to purchase the necessary gear to run my Ricks "stereo". With the exception of the TRS cable, all items seem to work perfectly. Running Rick's "stereo" like they were designed produces such stunning tone.

Anyway, the issues I'm having is when in ROS mode, every little noise seems to be super amplified thru my rig. I.e., simply moving the TRS cable creates creaking noises.

I bought the first TRS cable online from a bargain cable dealer. Very noisy. Grabbed a second cable at a local GC, and it's better, but still quite noisy.

So, could the noise issue be with the cables, or running ROS/stereo? Do any of you folks who run stereo notice more noise in general?

In mono mode I only get the typical hiss due to Rick's single cool pups. Not a big deal since it's fairly tame. Not the case in "stereo" mode.

Thanks!

The TRS female to 2 mono male splitter I'm using is pretty well made. At least it seems that way.

I recall a couple threads where there seems to be a split decision as to if there really is any sound difference between cheap and expensive cables.

Yes. 25' TRS-TRS from the Rick to a TRS-mono-mono splitter.

I may order a Rich-E-Split box. The owner/manufacturer is here in Oregon.

I don't think the splitter is the issue tho???

I would suggest a TRS made for guitar like the ones listed above. I have a good quality insert cable I use for my Parkers but the 18" of unshielded cable after the split is delicate and prone to movement related noise. I only use it in the studio sitting down so it's not an issue but I wouldn't use it live.

Best-Tronics are definitely in my price range. Thanks @s0c9.

Or, if wire is wire, maybe I just order 2 high quality TRS ends and replace the ones I have. One of my TRS cables is pretty decent gauge and seems to be quality.

Back when I had my 4003, I was using a Rick-O-Sound box from the 2000's. It worked great for me, no unneeded sound when moving it around! You can find them online, maybe check Reverb? I payed I think $100 for mine, it was, and still is the real deal when it comes to Stereo for the Rick-O-Sound jack, so I grabbed it.

I have a somewhat local guy who makes the Rich-E-Split box. I believe they are around $40, and $25 for a "high quality" TRS cable.

There's no reason a TRS should be noisier than TS, if properly assembled and made of similar quality components.

The crackling suggests poor connection at the end.

Interference suggests poor shielding.

I went with the Pick of the Ricks cable mentioned by Geronimo above. It will suit most users' needs.

If you want a more specific cable, consider a Y cable as an adaptor to give you 2 distinct leads.
